The Robin

Every now and then, well mostly on thursday evenings, I usually pop in MPH bookstore at One Utama. The reason is because my sister's tuition is around the corner, and instead of me driving all the way back home, I decide to head to One Utama and spend some time there (yes, alone!!) and then pick my sis up after she's done with her tuition.

So anyways, I currently have this great interest in books (being a law student I'm suppose to love them) and have started flipping through a couple of them at bookstores all over the Klang Valley. Back to the main story. Like I said, I was in MPH, strolling around up and down (it's really huge; has 2 freaking floors) listening to my favourite tunes off my Walkman Phone while making up my mind to pick a book I would spend my next 1 hour and 45 mins reading.

I then stumbled upon Robin Sharma's "The Greatness Guide 2". It was on the 'New Releases' shelve. Robin Sharma's picture amused me at first (giggling half-way after noticing how bald he is) but then it clicked my mind that this is THAT 'Robin Sharma'. I've read many articles of him, every single one of them saying how brilliant he is at giving motivating speeches which inspire people's lives.

Background check. He's Indian-Canadian. Lives in Canada currently, I think. Has soooo many degrees, one particular degree that surprised me was LL.M. This guy did freaking Masters in Law. See, you don't have to be a lawyer just because you get enrolled in a LL.B course. Writing a book can take you far. I'm planning on releasing my very own original book called, "Indians-The Brown Ones".

Robin Sharma is what we call an 'Inspirational Guru' as his books advice on how to live, and be a better person not only for yourself but to the world as well. He has his own company-Sharma Industries, which run advising cum inspirational workshops for big big companies. And big means really big alright. Nike, Microsoft, and many more top companies have held many workshops with Robin Sharma, and we've seen how far these companies have gone.

Ohkaayyy. So yeah, this Robin Sharma guy is famous and rich (thats how I knew his name lahh because of his earlier book) because of his many creative books published. The one that really outdid all the other inspirational/business books and really really made him extremely famous was his "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari". Haven't read it as yet, would love to get my hands on it. This book emerged as the Number 1 International Bestseller in the past year I think, and has got much praise.

Back to the "Greatness Guide Part 2". So I sat down in a quite place, read through every single page of that book, and truly was mesmerised with the 101 rules which would lead you to greatness. It's predecessor, "The Greatness Guide" also got acclaimed well after its release but I'm sure his latest hit would be even better.

One of his many quotes in his latest book which I really think is brilliant...

"Ideation without execution is mere delusion"

Brilliant ain't it. So you guys, if you people really have nothing to do on thursday evenings, you can just message me so that we can hang out at One Utama possibly flipping through books at MPH?? But really, its a really good book even for time-past and I recommend all of you to get it.

Oh wells, I'm done. Cheers.

Bolt-ing

Yupp, it's not speeding anymore, it's "BOLT-ing". If it has been anyone, it would be Usain Bolt who has impressed me the most throughot the whole Beijing Olympics 2008. Absolutely amazing this fella is. Broken 3 world records; 100m, 200m, and 4x100m finals all winning gold medals.

This born and bred Jamaican has his style of his own and is just superb at what he does. Tall, dark, and fast. Bloody fast actually. Usain Bolt had always left me awing for more, kept my heart pulsating and left my jaw open. His events were always special, interesting, and fun to watch.

From the minute he steps off, to the minute he touches down, just too good!! I've never seen anyone so great in athletics ever in my life. "Salute" to him and his Jamaican compatriots who fought along side him for the various athletics events.

Truly a great guy, brilliant runner, and an even better sprinter. Nice celebrations too he has.

Will be back for more guys. But seriously, watch this guy. Usain Bolt. The fastest man in the world.

Cheers.

P.S. : I know it's a short post and all, but still am busy with Legal Aid. Will be back to cover that story. But for now, Usain's the man!!

Made in China

I witnessed the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics 2008 the other day live on Astro, and I must say I was amazed on how China really presented themselves to the world. The performances, sketches, synchronisations, and displays were all brilliant!! Never in my life I have seen such a spectacular event open up to the world with such originality and class.

Truly truly amazed on what I saw on tv and really wonder how the United Kingdom is going to outdo China when the Olympics reach London in 2012. Anyways, China is leading the standings on the medal tally, wished Malaysia could have achieved a couple of medals (they still can actually, banking on Lee Chong Wei). Oh wells, even India has got their first ever Olympic gold medal. You go Indians!!

Many new records have been set, many more broken. Michael Phelps of the USA is currently the best Olympiad ever, after bagging 13 gold medals at the Olympics for swimming (many more still to come). Can't wait to watch Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, and Gay battle it out for the mens 100m event.

Moving on, as the Olympics would be coming to an end soon, the EPL is on its way back to live telecast. Starts this Saturday onwards with Arsenal taking on West Brom to kickoff the 2008/2009 EPL season. Mamaks will be packed from now onwards. Hopefully, 'maggi goreng' and 'teh ais' prices stay put.

On another note, I have been really busy this past week as I'm currently pursuing a 3-week internship at Legal Aid KL. Has been fun so far, a little boring at times but its fun lahh making fun at clients sometimes (ok maybe most of the times). Would do a post on my personal experiences throughout Legal Aid once I complete my 3-week internship.

Will be busy the next 2 weeks as well, won't be able to chat or hang out with anyone that often. But then again, anyone wants a date in the LRT from 'Kelana Jaya' station to 'Masjid Jamek' through and fro, I'm there!! Before I leave, I would just like to mention that "The Dark Knight" has vacated its no.1 spot on the "IMDB Top 250" list, getting slotted at number 3 with "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Godfather" taking the 1st and 2nd spots respectively. Justice has finally been served, or has it??

Urrgghhh. See you guys then.

Cheers

Law Asia Moots

The Law Asia Moots Competition was recently held at Taylors University College on the 2nd and 3rd of August. Had a really nice experience, although I literally sat through all the moots that were going on at the main hall, DR2. Why I had to sit through?? Was the damn bailiff. Hahahaha, yeah you heard me right, bailiff!! I know what you guys be thinking. Dinesh Nandrajog ain't the type of guy who can sit his ass down in a place for few minutes, and you expect him to pull that stunt??

But anyways, I did it lahh; helping out, as bailiffs were needed to maintain court order, speak loud announcing stuff, and reciprocate with the judges on deliberation, photo-taking, and gift-presentation ceremonies. And me being an indian, those calibres come naturally to me (speaking loud, fighting with anyone who pisses me off, and being nice to people who I want to be nice to).

I've been through moots twice and I know how it feels, mooting. So I thought I sit back and watch it this time. Really learned loads from mooters, especially paying attention on styles of speaking, presentation and how to reply to a judge's question.

Now, the commenting part. The mooters, the time-keepers, the bailiffs, the usherers, the judges assistants, the participant escorts, the coaches, and definitely the judges!!

Mooters :
- all looked very nervous while mooting
- but in real life really very friendly
- got to mix around with all the mooters, and yea some were hot man!!
- could see all of them had practiced well, training on advocacy skills
- my respect to all of them for being able to put up with the judges characters

Time-keepers :
- my assistants lahh basically
- had times with Nep, Daniel, and Leena (this sentence doesn't sound right somehow)
- most of them screwed up on ringing the bell on times when they shouldn't have
- were backup ushers for ushering

Bailiffs :
- I think I did a job well done
- speeches I had to give were really weird
- got laughed at when I had to announce for any complaints which wished to be lodged
- boring like hell sitting down there for 2 hours straight
- I think I did a job well done
- no seriously, I think I did a job well done

Usherers :
- running around here and there like little mice
- simple job lahh basically

Judges assistants and participant escorts:
- all female (judges assistants)
- I wonder why
- were with the judges throughout the whole day
- lucky them, getting to meet top lawyers and top judges
- I think they assisted the judges well enough
- Participant escorts did well with their respective teams

Coaches :
- All very friendly
- particularly one who fell in love with Nep
- no names mentioned
- got to talk to a few of them; asking about their universities and mooting
- some of them thank me for being a wonderful bailiff (it's true lahh, I'm not exaggerating)

Judges :
- bloody brilliant
- why??
- some were sleeping, some were feeling drowsy and some just kept quiet
- and yes the one who slept only got up when the time-keepers bell when off
- respect to Dato' Gopal Sri Ram and Dr. Myint Zan for being extraordinary judges
- they got to the point with their questions, were clear, direct, and asked what was relevant

All in all a good show. Tiring, but fun. Taylors is hosting the International rounds next at KLCC come this November. Wish all my buddies the best of luck, and don't you guys go shopping next door while the moots are going on eh??

Oh wells, would not be blogging for a while now. My internship at Legal Aid KL would be starting next monday, for 3 weeks. Have to apply for my visa, and get my passport done. Damn, loads of stuff still to be done before I take-off. Will definitely miss all you guys here.

We'll hang out before I leave yea. A date it is then.

Cheers.

Gossips...

I'm baaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!! It has been a really long time since I myself have visited my blog and posted something new. Had been busy with the Law Asia Moots recently held at Taylors University College. Might have a post on that too, but anyways, yea had been caught up with that event and being in the committee means you have loads of work to do; preparing for the 2 days event.

So anyways, before the days reaching the event, I managed to get the "Gossip Girl" tv series from Priscilla. Got the whole first season, watched it in 3 days, and must say was totally entertained. Had this post in my drafts for extremely long so I thought I put it up now.

Lead characters of "Gossip Girl"

So anyways, "Gossip Girl" would appear to be boring at first look but it picks up speed immediately with the full-loaded affairs and scandals that run through. Actors and actresses in this series do extremely well. They portray the high-class society of New York superbly and it just captivates you on what goes around their lives.

Ed Westwick

The character that amazed me most would definitely be the character of "Chuck Bass" played on by Ed Westwick. His charm, style, and 'bitchy-ness' fits perfectly for the character of "Chuck Bass". His acting truly got me applauding him for his performance in this tv series. And most of all, he's the good/bad boy of the whole lot. Being a good boy and a bad boy at the same time is really tough to play. Only I and Snoop Dogg play that well in real life. Hahahaahha.

Leighton Meester

Besides that, I think the most beautiful girl on set would definitely be "Blaire Waldorf" played by Leighton Meester. She too plays that same naughty but nice person as portrayed by "Chuck Bass". Her acting, well she over-plays it at times. The reason she's on my page is because I say she's the best looking one (cute smile etc.) of "Gossip Girl". Yupp, even better looking then the lead actress "Serena Van der Woodsen" played by Blake Lively. But Blake definitely has a fitter body then Leighton lahh.

Hmmm. Well, would definitely recommend this series for those who have enjoyed "One Tree Hill" and "The O.C" in the past. Really fun, witty, and true portrayal of the life of the elite Eastsiders in New York. Can't wait for the airing of its 2nd season which starts on 1st September. And yea, those who want the complete 1st season can contact me for transfer of files??

I'm done. Cheers.
