I've been too nice to people these days. Don't know why, but I think my mama always told me to be nice to people. In today's world, being nice won't get you anywhere. I know this shit, but I'm still nice to people. Why??
Ok lahh, this whole post is actually related to poker. Last night, 2 buy-ins of 2 pounds each. That means a total of 4 pounds I committed into the pot, BUT I cashed out 9 pounds, making a profit of 5 pounds. Now why I say I've been to nice?? Well , I defnitely could have made much much more money than the 5 pounds profit.
I got to be the only player who tells other players to fold their cards when I know I got them beaten. This happened so many times last night. Saved Paul, Shaun, Chia Ern, and probably a few more from losing loads of chips. Atleast, I would say I would have cashed out 3 pounds more, but I'm just too nice.
Anyways, great game last night. Joel beat the cash-out record again!! There was a total of 30 pounds in the pot. Only three managed to cash out. That would be Joel (16pounds = 53%), me (9pounds = 30%) and Aarthi (5pounds = 17%). Joel bluffed me a huge pot of around 100 chips, but that's when I started winning my chips back. "You win some, you lose some, baby!!".
Again, my reads have been topping the charts. I know I'm bragging but seriously lahh, being a lawyer-to-be, you have to be able to read your witnesses (poker players). Many have asked me how I do it. Well basically, you have to look at their expressions when they are betting, how much they're betting, when they check/check-raise, and who you are playing against. That's why I always talk to my opponents when I'm up against them one-on-one. You get to know much easier the cards they are holding.
Hahahhaha. Wokay wokay, I'm off to the library to print my assignments now. See ya peeps.
Cheers.

Brown people speak funny, no??
The 'best imitation of any accent award' definitely has to go to Russell Peters. If you've seen his shows then you know what I mean. The guy has travelled all around the world, and picks up the local language/accent overseas so quick you think he's local!!
But anyways, I found this video on YouTube and I thought it was pretty funny. I mean anyone trying to imitate the Indian accent has definitely some laughs in it.
Enjoy the clip, and at the end of the day, it takes only and ONLY an Indian to do the accent. Don't know why.
Cheers

To dance with my father...
This post might be a little emo, but who cares!! Wanted to do a post for my dad in a long time, but never had the time to actually put my thoughts of my dad in words. He's just indescribable, really!!
My dad has to be the bestest ever in the world. Then again, all dads are. My dad pretty much thought me life!! Owe him big time. And let me tell you, being an Indian dad is hell. There's just too much shit going in your life that you won't have the time to even take a piss.
But my dad has done me proud. Not that he needs too, but he just keeps being better at everything I thought I was best at. Ok ok, back to the main reason of this post, my dad got awarded the 'Justice of Peace' (JP title) award past few weeks ago.

Was awarded by the Malacca's Yang Di-Pertua Negeri alongside many 'Datuk-ships' that were awarded out. And yes, this was the ceremony where Shahrukh Khan was suppose to attend to get his 'Datuk-ship' but clearly he was too big for this (he came down later to receive in a special ceremony, anyways).
So, this JP title is basically recognised as one title below the 'Datuk-ship' in Malaysia, but recognised as one level higher above the 'Datuk-ship', internationally. That just shows you how much acknowledgment is given around the world to our all-so-favoured-Malaysianised-'Datuk-ship-titles'.
Good thing about this JP title, he gets to put it on his name card and charge his clients double the bills now. Hopefully one day, I be able to triple the bills. My dad always told me, "Son, my dream is to stand up in court someday and tell the three idiots staring down at me that, My Lords, my son, the junior counsel would be presenting the case for today". And I always cheekily replied, "Dad, we'll see who's junior counsel then!!".
Oh wells, I wait eagerly for that day and to the celebrations with mum and Henna after winning the case. I know very well that ideation without execution is mere delusion, but you need to dream once in a while to be able to have that point of achievement you want to get to in life.
And on that thought, I have my assignments to finish up. Don't wanna be failing 2nd year and end up crushing my dad's dreams. Just living my, and my dad's dreams, baby!!
Cheers, and sorry for the over-emotional post peeps.
P.S. Dad, if you've read this post (I know you don't as you're only hooked on Malaysiakini and Chedet), I'm kinda running low on cash right now, so a little transfer of funds would really help, and even since the exchange rate is running low as well.

The past seven days...
Went to Nottingham last saturday for the Nottingham games which were hosted by the University of Nottingham where all Malaysians from different universities around the UK come down to take part in competitive games.
Football, basketball, badminton, netball, and loads of other games were there. I was in the football team, representing the Reading University Malaysian Bruneian Singaporean Association (RUMBSA) but then I opted out due to political reasons. I then chose badminton.
Left our place around 4.30 am, and reached there around 7.30 (btw, a few of us stayed up all night playing poker before boarding the bus). It was a 3 hour journey, on a double-decker bus to Nottingham. Got there, registered ourselves and got into action. Me, and Joanne were up for mix-doubles against some other uni, can't remember which one, but we lost 21-11. Yupp, only one set. Why we lost?? Ask me someday and I'll tell you why.

Went to have food then at the food court at some other building (which I had to take a bus to). The uni is pretty big, but the buildings are scattered everywhere around so it can be a pain sometimes waiting for buses to take you up and down. But anyways, back to the food part, nasi lemak, satay, cendol, dodol, claypot chicken rice, and the list just goes on. BUT, it wasn't that great and not authentic enough.
After filling our stomachs, a few of us wanted to walk around the huge campus but it started raining, so we decided to watch the Arsenal-ManUtd game at a students bar nearby. Brilliant game, and I lost my voice after that due to the amount of noise I was making while hooked on to the big screen.
Then, we were off to witnessed the basketball final game. Truly amazing stuff. Both teams were equally good, but I think the ones that got it, really deserved it.
Left Notts at 8.00 and reached back at 11.30. Tiring day, man!! But that was it...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This weekend then. Deeparaya night was on friday. Pretty cool set up, but it was kinda short (2 hours, that's all we got). Played poker after that with the guys. 1 buy-in (of 1 pound) and cashed out 2 pounds (profit of 1 pound). Not bad huh??
Saturday then was not too bad a day until later. Aki, Daniel and I decided to go to town to catch "Quantum of Solace". Not that great I would say. Never preferred Daniel Craig as Bond, but what to do. Olga too wasn't great in the movie. I thought the other chick that got a small role (the one that was covered up with oil) did better.
Walked around, ate dinner, did shopping at Sainsbury (where we bumped into a few seniors) and then back to the theatres. This time, "Zack and Miri make a Porno". Loved the film. Was laughing from the very minute it started. Seth Rogen is truly an amazing actor, and I though Liz Banks did quite well too. A very high recommendation from me, mates. You guys so have to catch it!! Brilliant shit!!

Then got home. Checked on the net on the results and was hear-broken when I found out that Arsenal lost 2-0 to Aston Villa at home!! Was pissed off, and pretty much not in the mood to do anything (just shows you how much love I have for the Gunners). Poker was on again. This time, 2 buy-ins (of 1 pound each) and lost my buy-ins. Really wanted to play, but I have my limit at 2 pounds. "Principles over policies, baby!!".
But I must say my reading skills have been topping the charts, man!! Really really good reads on people's cards, but i still lose because i get shitty hands to play with. Left early from the table and calmed myself down with "Traitor". Really good movie. Those who like serious shit, or just like good shit, then you so have to catch this shit!! (3 shits in a sentence, wow!!)
That was my 2 weekend story then. Done with Equity assignment, but the Consti one is bugging me now. Hate doing assignments, lahh!! Aite peeps, catch you guys sometime. Off to 'Kebab Express' for dinner.
Cheers.

It's white, wet and smooth
Nononono, not what you're thinking of, you horny buggers. It rained at first. And then, it came pouring down. The white silky smooth wet flakes of SNOW. Right on Diwali day. Pretty cool if you come to think about it.
So anyways, have seen loads of movies lately and thought I mention 'Eagle Eye' since I did enjoy it (would say I liked it more then 'Burn after Reading'). Good script, nice action, and brilliant technology. Can't wait for a few more to come; 'Quantum of Solace', 'At The End of The Line', 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno', 'Madagascar 2', 'Role Models', and a few more.
Football has really been depressing me lately. Yes, you would have guessed it. Arsenal FC. Not doing too well lately, really bad results this couple of weeks. I just hope they can get results in the champs league game and against Man United at home this weekend. Damn, I still remember that mouth-watering, thirst-quenching 2-2 draw at the Emirates last season. Better yet, the double we did over Man United the season before last.
Hmmm, haven't been keeping too well lately. It's definitely the stupid weather here in the UK. I don't mind if its cool or something, but the rain that comes along with it just F's things up!! Luckily weather's going to be around 9-10 degrees throughout the whole day for this coming week. Hoping for a speedy recovery now as I've got to represent Reading University Malaysia Brunei Singapore Association (RUMBSA) this saturday at the Nottingham games for badminton. Was in the football squad, but I got out of it because of the huge amount of politics that goes in there.
Poker hasn't been too bad lately. Getting really good wins these days, with good reads and good folds at times to add to that. The World Series of Poker 2008 finals is on Sunday, hoping to catch it live somewhere with the guys.
Ahhh, assignments too are on my list now. 3 freaking law assignments can seriously kill you. Where the hell am I going to find all the time to do the shit. And speaking of shit, that brings me to my all time famous catch-phrase which I originally created, leading to Brad Pitt using it in the movie 'Burn after reading'.
Well there are a few random things that I've said lahh when I'm around people and then when we look back at what I've said, it wouldn't have made any sense. And that's when it becomes my catch-phrase.
1. "That's the shit right there" (The most famous one I use around)
2. "Damn cock loud" (Possibly the second-most famous line I use)
3. "I'm one ear free lahh" (random shit)
4. "They should ship a crate of beer over" (again, random shit)
5. "Enough is enough, baby" (When I'm on the poker tables)
6. "Legend" (When I refer to one of our truly amazing lecturers)
And many more lahh. Hahahaha. If you don't get what I just wrote above, then we seriously need to have a chat about you being senile or whatsoever.
See ya peeps then. Cheers.
