So, it was poker night again yesterday. The regular 6 were there (except Joel). I bought-in straight away with my 1.80 pounds as all I had of it was loose change. Miraculously I only played the whole night with my 1 pound and the 80 pea was just left aside.
And on this very special night (since it was Alex's and my last game for the season) we set up the rule where whoever plays a 2, 7 and wins the pot with that hand would get 10 pea from each player. The rule basically came about because of all the fanatics of 'High-Stakes Poker' which witnessed how these two cards (2,7) can change the whole game over it. To play with 2,7 and winning a pot is basically amazing because technically 2,7 are the worst cards you can ever be drawn in Hold-em.
I think it was the third hand of the day and I was drawn 2,7 off-suit. Raised pre-flop for everyone to fold except Paul and Alex. Hit nothing over the flop, kept on raising. Paul called, while Alex folded. Paired my 7 over the turn, kept on raising for Paul to call. River was a blank. I raised, Paul re-raised me and I CALLED!! And, I won the pot with a pair 7 (Paul hit nothing). I didn't realise it at first, but later on I realised it was a freaking crazy move to call on a 2,7.
I should have re-re-raised Paul to show him that I had a strong hand forcing him to fold as I had been raising all the way. And by calling with the worst hand possible in hold-em history was definitely a brave move. I'll have a beer for me on that note. Crazy night man (cashed out 3.35 pounds by the way).
Anyways, all packed and suited up now for 'boeing' back home. Should reach home by Sunday evening. Can't wait to indulge myself in all the Malaysian food out there. Damnit, my mouth is watering. Got loads of stories to tell everyone when I get back. Got loads of foosball and pool matches to catch up on. And definitely, loads and loads of lepaking to do.
It's christmas, baby!! See you guys then at home.
Cheers.

Outstanding...
I know, I know. Two posts in two days sounds really gay, but seriously, simply magnificent. As I've mentioned in the earlier post of my sudden liking for Russell Crowe, I set out yet again on my friday night watching the next available movie option on my list.
"A Beautiful Mind" came up and since it scooped a huge amount of Oscars, I thought I watch it. And really, I think Russell Crowe has put a new brand to the profession of acting. Simply brilliant. I've never seen such outstanding performances by any other actor except maybe Denzel Washington, Al Pacino, and a few more.

His co-star, Jennifer Connelly too played an amazing role (which won her an Oscar by the way) which I really have to salute. Script was brilliant, acting was superb, and direction was out of this world. It truly deserves the Oscar which it won back in 2001.
For those who are wondering about the storyline, well it goes something like this.
"It centers around a biopic of the meteoric rise of John Forbes Nash Jr, a math prodigy able to solve problems that baffled the greatest of minds. And how he overcame years of suffering through schizophrenia to win the Nobel Prize."
Trust me people, excellent acting and an amazing storyline.
Hmmm. I've never known Russell Crowe before this. Never seen any of his movies (am watching every single one of them now). But, he now has changed my view of 'The Russell Crowe'. I take my hat off to this man for being able to portray true ability of world-class acting. Damnit, that sounds gay.
At the end of the day, this post and the earlier one shows you how bored I am sitting in my room everyday with nothing much to do. Think I need to start clubbing again. Miss those days. But anyways, I'll be back soon, so if any of you guys want this movie and the other one, ring me up and we'll have dinner sometime (on you).
Cheers.
P.S. : Did I forget to mention it is a brilliant film?? Really...

Crowe
It's been really relaxing for me lately. All assignments done. All tutorials done. And even all my movies are done. All the new ones which I pick (I pick only the good ones with good scripts and actors), I've finished watching them all.
So I thought I go through some old movies I never really got to see. This one guy caught my attention while I was surfing IMDB and I thought, "Shit, he's that good??" (after browsing through all his achievements including awards and Oscars won).
Russell Crowe, ladies and gentlemen. I've always read good reviews on him but never really saw any of his films (except maybe "American Gangster"). So I looked through his profile and I thought I give it a go at few of his movies. And just 10 minutes ago I witnessed one of the most extraordinary films in my life which actually got me thinking, thinking, and thinking.

"The Insider" is its name. Outstanding performances by Russell Crowe and Al Pacino. Classy, excellent, and most importantly, true. Everything in the film made so much sense. The two actors were brilliant in both their roles and I actually do like Russell Crowe now. He's blown my mind away with an awesome display of true acting (not many people can do that).
The summary for you guys who are interested and not to sure whether to watch the film.
"This is the true story of Jeffrey Wigand (Russell Crowe), a man who signed a confidentiality agreement before getting fired from a big tobacco company. Hotshot '60 minutes' producer Bergman (Al Pacino) asks Wigand to decipher some technical documents, and soon realizes there's a bigger story hiding inside Wigand. On top of that, Wigand is recruited to testify in Mississippi for a case that claims cigarettes 'are' addictive. The '60 minutes' piece will eventually be pulled because of corporate pressure. Wigand deals with his personal dilemma, and Bergman battles the corporation."
Now that catch your eye, didn't it??
People, seriously. Don't waste your time with "My Best Friend's Girl" and whatever bullshit nonsense (though I liked the part where Dane Cook whipped out his weener in front of his mom-in-law) that is about to come out. Upcoming lawyers too might find this film very intriguing (as it deals with breach of contract and breach of the doctrine of confidentiality).
See, told you it get you thinking. Anyways, got an early class tomorrow. Take care peeps and sweet dreams.
Cheers.
