The third annual Reading University Malaysian, Bruneian & Singaporean Association's (RUMBSA) Malaysian Night held on 13 February 2009 was a resounding success. It is aimed to increase awareness about Malaysian culture as well as to strengthen the bonds between RUMBSA members.
Professor Patricia Leopold, Head of Reading Law School, Rhiannon Horsley, President of the Reading University Students' Union (RUSU) and many others praised the show, saying they enjoyed the cultural exchange opportunity.
Themed Negaraku and held at Myra McCulloch Theatre, Bulmershe, the event featured delicious Malaysian food and cultural performances by RUMBSA members. Food served specially for the night were nasi goreng Cina, ayam rendang, teh tarik, bubur cha cha and many more, curing Malaysians of their homesickness.

Performances like Malay, Chinese and Indian dances as well as the play Negaraku written by fellow Taylor's students, Foo Yen Ne and Chong Jiang Mun were put up. The entertaining and enlightening play allowed the audience to understand better about Malaysia.
Taylor's-Reading student Dinesh Nandrajog stole the spotlight in the play with his unbelievable acting skills and hilarious sense of humour. When asked what he likes most at Malaysian Night, he replied, "It definitely brought us (the actors) closer, which made the play even more realistic and it was an amazing experience to share the stage with such wonderful people."

Malaysian Night 2009 was definitely a night not to forget, with scrumptious food, dazzling dances and a passionate play. RUMBSA thanks everyone for the support and hopes that the success of Malaysian Night will continue for many years in the future.
